Novant Health House Call: American Stroke Month

CHARLOTTE, NC — Stroke affects almost 800,000 Americans each year, making it a leading cause of death and disability in the United States.

But with lifestyle changes, about 80 percent of strokes could be prevented.

As May is American Stroke Month, Dr. Laurie McWilliams, a neurologist with Novant Health, sat down with the couch crew to talk about stroke signs, the importance of acting immediately if someone is experiencing a stroke and what people can do to lower their stroke risk.
