Driver Dead After Hitting Tree In North Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver is dead after his car struck a tree in north Charlotte on Wednesday, according to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

Officers say they located 65-year-old David Jackson in the driver’s seat of a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck around midnight in the parking lot of 3009 Rozzelles Ferry Road.

CMPD says Jackson’s truck struck a tree and fence along the side of Rozzelles Ferry Road. Medic pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Authorities believe speed and alcohol impairment did not play a role in the crash and that Jackson may have suffered a medical incident. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.

Jackson’s family has been notified of his death.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 704-432-2169.
